Thanks to the new uniform admissions policy, BARTI, SETI, MahaJyoti, and ARTI will now be able to take advantage of the admissions policies and frameworks devised by the Maharashtra government. During the recent announcement on December 3, 2025, Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of the state, revealed that admissions would be limited to a few high-value postgraduate courses and would be strictly merit-based. Any existing discretionary or quota systems would be removed entirely.

Tackling these along with the capped student enrollment per institute, overseas funding, and individual funding caps under these institutes, bolsters public confidence and perception of how effectively taxpayer resources are spent and optimized. These changes along with addressing the capped student enrollment are aimed at solving an estimated ₹280 crore misallocated spending where approximately 3000 out of 3 lakh PhD aspirants from 2018 to 2025 entered the advanced stages of research. Also, there was inefficient resource allocation in the spending close to ₹30 lakh per candidate for a PhD.

After the review committee has been formed, the Chief Secretary has evaluated the effectiveness of the functions of these institutes and proposed improvements. The implementation policy has already been drafted, and is now moving to commence the measures designed towards achieving the stated objectives in the report. As per the report, eliminating primary workflows that create redundancy, rigorous improvement in scholarship and critical thinking, reshaping training toward nationally prioritized strategic readiness, holistic developmental goal pedagogical framework realignment, and relation of developmental goals refocusing education. This is likely to strengthen the professional opportunities for students and professional prestige of these institutes on the world stage.
