The Income Tax Department, under the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, has released a recruitment notification for the year 2024-25. This announcement aims to fill 291 positions for various roles such as income tax inspector, multitasking staff, canteen attendant, and tax assistant. The opportunity is open to meritorious sports persons who aspire to pursue a career in government jobs in India. Interested and eligible candidates are invited to submit their applications on or before the specified deadline of 19th January 2024.


The job location for candidates will be Mumbai.

Number of Vacancies – 

2. Tax Assistant – 119

3. Multitasking Staff – 137

4. Stenographer – 18

5. Canteen Attendant – 03.

Salary/Pay and Grade Pay –  For income tax inspector post, the payable salary will be Rs 44,900 – 1,42,400, for stenographer, tax assistant posts, the payable salary will be Rs 25,500 – 81,100 and for multitasking staff, canteen attendant posts, the payable salary will be Rs 18,000 – 56,900 per month. Further information about salary details is mentioned in the detailed advertisement.

Educational Qualifications – The educational qualification details for these posts are mentioned below.

  • Income Tax Inspector/ Tax Assistant – {a graduate degree in any discipline}
  • Stenographer – {12th pass}
  • Multitasking Staff (MTS)/ Canteen Attendant – {10th pass}.

Candidate must be a meritorious sportsperson having represented a state or the country in a national or international competition in any of the games/ their university in the inter-university tournaments/ state schools team in the national sports for schools conducted by all India school games federation or sportsperson who has been awarded national awards in physical efficiency under national physical efficiency drive. Selection Method – For recruitment in the Income Tax Department, the candidate will be selected on the basis of shortlisting, ground/ proficiency test and then a personal interview. Candidates must be prepared for these tests. 

Work Experience – No further work experience required for these posts. Fresher candidates and candidates with no experience can also apply for this recruitment.

Important Note – Application forms received after due date will not be entertained under any circumstances.
